Is that the most awesome thing ever?
Yet, ever since we were given that first commandment to be fruitful and multiply we have been at war with it. I would suggest that every one of the ten commandments God gave to Moses sprung as a result and a response from our war on that very first commandment given to us by God before the fall, and perhaps because of it. The protection of life, both temporal and spiritual is at the very heart of our relationship with God, each other and our Faith. That is why each one of the non-negotiable teachings of the Church addresses just that, the protection of that life. If you are unaware of the non-negotiable teachings of the Church, they are:
1. Abortion
2. Embyonic Stem Cell Research
3. Euthanasia
4. Same Sex Marriage
5. Human Cloning
As Catholics we are not permitted to support anything or anyone who would try to advance, protect or promote the actions of these five issues. As you can see, and I am not sure that they are in order or have a hierarchy, but they all threaten and cripple the dignity of temporal and spiritual life, and the honor and privilege of bringing, caring for and nurturing embodied spirits into existence for eternity.
It is no wonder the forces of evil so vehemently and boldly attack life. Satan hates humanity with a vengeance and will do anything to limit our creation and proliferation. He has been very successful too. He has waged war and recruited warriors to fight for each one of these vile actions, and that is what they are: sinful actions and choices, made under the guises of tolerance and advancement for the greater good, and for human happiness and expression. Yet each one of them, in their own way are killers of our species and threaten our very existence. All five of these non-negotables kill; and they don’t just kill the victims, they kill the body and soul of the ones who inflect this death and destruction on others. It is often a death that is invisible, and cloaks itself in beautiful but false notions of compassion and progress. It is a death that entrances us gradually and systematically until the spell it casts seems righteous and charitable, but it is not Truth, it is just the opposite.
Satan enchants us with a darkness that seems beautiful and meritorious. It can be a slow process, until we find ourselves so far from God it seems impossible to ever reclaim our Savior’s Truth, and the Devil revels and dances in this deceit. Sometimes he even seems victorious. It is all an illusion though, because Jesus promised us that the gates of Hell will not prevail! That is the promise, that promise gives every one of us hope, even in our darkest despair. It is never too late for anyone. Our battle cry is prayer and our greatest weapon the Rosary, so pray for souls and for ones last in the deceit of this lie.
The gates of Hell will not prevail! So, prayer, penance and reconciliation can bear much fruit for the world. So be fruitful and multiply, the gates of Hell will not prevail, and the destruction these vices yield will not prevail either, because we have a promise from the King of Kindness, Compassion and Forgiveness. We can claim the prize no matter how greatly we have fallen. There is always hope in Christ. And as we take up our arms we can help win souls for Christ when we battle for lost souls. Join our Lord and Savior in an ever new life in Christ. We can do this because we obeyed the command and we were fruitful and multiplied, in body, soul, Grace and Life!
