January 28th is the Memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas. He is the Patron Saint of all universities and of students.
Thomas was born in Roccasecca, Naples, Italy, in the castle of his father, Landulf, Count of Aquinos. He received his early education at the monastery of Cassino, then studied for six years at the University of Naples, until age 16. Thomas assumed the habit of St. Dominic at the age of 19, with much opposition from his family.
